Dora school news — Oct. 14

Report cards

Report cards will be issued to students today to bring home. The grades will be for the first nine-week grading period of this school year. Grades of 60 and above are passing.


Dora sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT test from 8:30 until 11:30 Wednesday morning. The PSAT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills, writing skills, and gives students practice for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), which assesses a student’s readiness for college.

Early release for conferences

On Monday, school will be released early in order for parents to meet with teachers from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Buses will run at 12:30 p.m.

Eastern NM state fair Results

Kit Pettigrew and his FFA teams brought back a number of wins from the recent Eastern New Mexico State Fair in Roswell:

• Daelynn Lee, grand champion dairy heifer;

• Lindsey Lee, first place dairy heifer;

• Shelden Breashears and Shaelei Payne, pig class winners;

• Alyssa McAlister, fifth place goat;

• Savannah Kircher, third place lamb and second place steer;

• Kaitlyn Kircher, second place lamb.

Showing pigs were Dakota and Tyler Newman, Heather Buzard, Brogan Fraze, Cashlyn Fraze, and Austin Wall.

Showing goats were Tyler Newman and Heather Buzard.

Showing dairy heifers were Megan Stacy, Hanna Stacy, and Trenton Bates. Showing rabbits was Alex Zangara.


Today — Dora junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams host Jal, 4:30 p.m.

Thursday — Dora volleyball at Tatum (jr. high, junior varsity, varsity), 4:30 p.m.

Friday — Dora football hosts Floyd football; varsity, 1 p.m.; junior high, 3 p.m.
