The Portales High soccer teams were selected for spots in the Class 1A-3A state tournament on Sunday in Albuquerque.
The Rams (8-10) earned the No. 11 seed for the boys in the 12-team field, and will face sixth-seeded Hope Christian (10-10) at 4 p.m. on Friday in Albuquerque.
The Lady Rams (7-12) earned the No. 9 seed and play at eighth-seeded Socorro (10-6-1) at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Teams seeded fifth through eighth host first-round games this weekend, with the top four seeds drawing byes.
Tourney play moves to the APS soccer complex in Albuquerque for the final three rounds, beginning with quarterfinals on Nov. 7 and concluding with championship matches on Nov. 9.
The PHS-Hope boys winner will face third-seeded St. Michael’s (12-8) in a 3:45 p.m. quarterfinal match on Nov. 7. The winner between the Lady Rams and Socorro will go against top-seeded Hope Christian (17-3) at 8:30 a.m. the same day.
Sandia Prep swept both titles last season.
Coyotes host Vaughn — The Dora High football team will host the Animas Panthers in a 1 p.m. 6-man football quarterfinal matchup on Saturday.
Dora brings a 7-2 record into the contest while Animas stands 6-2. The other quarterfinal matchup sends fifth-seeded San Jon to No. 4 Vaughn, also on Saturday.
Winners advance to semifinal competition the following weekend. The Animas-Dora winner plays at second-seeded Hondo, while the winner between San Jon and Vauighn travels to top-seeded Lake Arthur.
The championship game is set for the weekend of Nov. 15-16.
Last year, Hondo defeated Dora in the 6-man final.
