RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team will take a two-game win streak into conference play with its 85-56 win Thursday over Johnson and Wales.
Devone Davis and Rafael Love led a balanced attack with 14 points as ENMU (6-5) moved over .500 for the first time this season.
Eastern hosts Cameron on Tuesday in its Lone Star Conference opener.
Demetris Love paced NAIA member Johnson & Wales (3-14) with 19 points.
A 3-pointer by Rodney Blackmon ignited a 20-4 Greyhound run, to give ENMU a 30-14 lead midway through the first half. Eastern continued to pull away for the win from that point.
The 29-point margin was ENMU’s second largest win of the season. The Hounds beat University of the Southwest 114-62 in their second game of the season.
Four of Eastern’s six wins have been by 22 or more points while its biggest loss has been by seven points.
ENMU shot 46 percent from the field and a 50-24 edge in rebounding, including 21-7 on the offensive boards.
Blackmon added 11 points and Cornelius Cammock added 10 points and nine rebounds.
ENMU’s bench outscored the Wildcats 28-11, with Lawrence Domingo leading the way with seven points.
Damon Bates, Jamar White and Michael Mitchell added 11 points each for Johnson and Wales.
