SAN ANTONIO — Central Oklahoma pitchers Kalynn Schrock and Nicole Brady combined on a two-hitter and the defending NCAA Division II national champion Bronchos blanked Eastern New Mexico University 4-0 on Sunday in the finale of the Rattler Invitational softball tournament, hosted by St. Mary’s.

Former Lone Star Conference member UCO (9-7), which underwent a coaching change before the start of this season, finished 3-2 in the three-day event while the Zias (6-10) went 1-4.

Central Oklahoma got one hit from eight players against ENMU freshman Cailin Garmon (3-6) and reliever Vanessa Ramirez. Bronchos junior center fielder Kaylee Brunson scored twice and stole two bases, giving her 69 for her career to break the school record of 68 set by Mary Martin (1983-86).

Schrock (6-4), a senior left-hander, worked five innings, walking three and striking out one. She gave up both hits — a single to left by Garmon in the third and an infield hit by junior catcher Shelby Ripple in the fourth — before giving way to Brady.

ENMU begins Lone Star Conference play with a three-game series against Cameron at Lawton, Okla., beginning with a noon (MST) twin bill on Friday.
