Dora, Elida track teams compete at Hagerman

HAGERMAN — Elida finished ninth with 27 points and Dora was 12th with nine on Saturday in the 15-school Alfalfa Relays track meet.

Eunice took team honors with 64 1/2 points, eding Loving with 62.

For the Lady Tigers, Marily Varela placed second in long jump (14-4) and high jump (4-8), third in the 200 (28.94) and fifth in the 100 (13.84).

Other points came from Kaylen Jasso, second in shot put (31-7) and third in javelin (100-10), and Bonnie Bennett, sixth in the 100 hurdles (19.94).

Daelynn Lee posted a sixth-place finish in discus for Dora with a throw of 85-4. Meantime, the Lady Coyotes were third in the 1,600 medley relay (5:00.24) with Melissa Gonzales, serena Warmuth, Branna Bates and Lee, and fifth in the 800 relay (2:08.94) with Gonzales, Warmuth, Lee and Bates.

Dexter won boys competition with 200 points to 77 1/2 for new Mexico Military. The only point for either area school came on a sixth in the 1,600 medley relay by Dora.
