Curry County Republican Women
The monthly meeting of Curry County Republican Women (CCRW) was called to order Tuesday by President Laquita Terry.

Twenty-six members, associates and guests attended. June meeting minutes and treasurer’s reports were read and approved. Rube Render, Curry County Republican Party Chairman, invited the group to the monthly breakfast meeting July 12 at Leal’s on Mabry. Render also asked for volunteers to help man a booth at the Curry County Fair.

Gary and Cheryl Elliott are hosting a Meet & Greet event on Saturday for congressional candidate Jeff Byrd.

Guest speaker Tori Sandoval, Curry County Detention Center administrator, spoke about implementation of programs designed to address inmate issues and discussed the need for trained volunteers.

The next CCRW meeting is set for 11:30 a.m. Sept. 9 at Dakota’s Steakhouse.

Encanto Garden Club
Members of the Encanto Garden Club of Clovis would like to inform the community of the approaching Curry County Fair on Aug. 11 -16. Specifically the fair flower show, which we sponsor yearly.

Entries will be taken all day Aug. 11 from 8 a.m. -6 p.m. If you don’t have a green thumb there are, themed floral arrangement
classifications provided, which can be found in the fair book. Fair books are provided free at the Events Center at 1900 E. Brady or the Extension Office at 818 Main St.

This year pre-registrations must be submitted on-line only. Call the Events Center at 935-7000 for that information. It is important that exhibitors obtain a fair book for rules in submitting an entry.
