False alarm leads to Cannon lockdown

A false report of an active shooter led to a lockdown at Cannon Air Force Base late Wednesday afternoon.

Sgt. Matt Plew, with Cannon’s Public Affairs office, said a lockdown was initiated about 5 p.m. because there was an indication of an active shooter. Further investigation after the lockdown determined the report was false, Plew said.

Cannon posted an “all clear” notice on its 27th Operations Wing Facebook page. Plew said additional information would be provided soon.
