Eastern, which finished 7-3 and claimed a share of the Lone Star Conference title last season — its first since 1991 — received one vote in the final poll last season.

Defending national champion Northwest Missouri State received all 31 first-place votes.

The Greyhounds, picked for third in the conference, will face three other LSC squads who earned recognition. West Texas A&M, ranked 11th, and Tarleton State, 17th, were in the top 25 while Midwestern State was in the “also received votes” category.

All three are on the Greyhounds’ schedule, which includes the LSC’s eight schools playing a round-robin format.
The Greyhounds open the season Sept. 6 at New Mexico Highlands.
