Testing all week
Principal David Bass has scheduled Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments for grades K-11 this week.The tests measure academic growth over time in math, reading and language usage. Students should come to school each day well-rested and ready to do their best.
Sports
• Monday — Junior high (boys red & white, girls white) host Melrose, 3 p.m.; JV boys and varsity girls host House, 6 p.m.
• Tuesday — Junior high (boys white & girls white) at Floyd, 4:30 p.m. (two gyms)
• Thursday — through Saturday, varsity boys compete in the Tularosa Basin Classic Tournament. Brackets are available in the school office.
Basketball

Karen Cone, yearbook sponsor, has scheduled team and individual basketball pictures for Tuesday. Pictures of junior high teams will begin at 9 a.m. in the Luscombe Gym, followed by junior varsity and varsity team pictures. Payment envelopes showing picture order options will be available before picture day. Athletes must pay for their orders on picture day.
Christmas programs
Dora elementary students in grades K-6, with the assistance of high school drama students, will perform “North Pole Christmas Celebration” Thursday. The hour-long play will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. Punch and cookies will be served afterward. All parents, students, and community members are welcome. Admission is free.
Teacher in-service day
Staff from Floyd, Elida, and Fort Sumner schools will join Dora teachers for an in-service day on Friday. Training sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
