Dora School News May 18

Finals week


High school students in grades seven through 11 will take final exams Tuesday through Thursday this week. They will take first and third hour finals Tuesday; second, fourth and fifth hour finals Wednesday; and sixth and seventh period finals Thursday. School will be released early Thursday, with buses running at 12:30.



BPA wins at nationals


Sponsors Colleen Tollett and Cherry Tivis announce that the Dora Web Design and Parliamentary Procedure teams placed at the Business Professionals of America National Competition, held last week in Reno, Nevada. Parli-Pro team members Kendra Merrick, Santana Chavez, Tori Varnell, Kelsi King, Chelsea Gantert, Jordan Inge, and Deserai Haraughty received second place. Web Design team members Amelia Bilbrey, Ethan Bilbrey, and Zac Teston received ninth place.



Awards dinner


Principal David Bass and Athletic Director Ty Thatcher have scheduled our annual awards banquet for 6 p.m. Monday.  Dora students in grades six through 12, their parents and school staff will enjoy a potluck style meal in the Dora Luscombe Gymnasium.
Following the meal, awards will be presented by the teachers and coaches to students for their academic and athletic achievements this school year.



Varsity track


Varsity track members placing at the state track meet last weekend include:   junior Tearney O’Connor, sixth in triple jump; freshman Kayla Cox, fourth in discus; and junior Audra Pinkston, third in discus and fourth in shotput.



Car wash May 23


Karen Cone, sponsor, and the Dora chapter of the National Honor Society and Junior Honor Society will be washing vehicles at the Dora School from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. May 23. Donations accepted.
