Name: Shauna Wade

Job: Secretary for certified public accountant Terry L. Cone.

Background: I am originally from Sundown, Texas. I’ve lived in Portales since 2003. I am married, and I have two daughters.

Time on job: I have been with Terry L. Cone for two years.

What does your job entail? Everything. I answer telephones, process payroll, bookkeeping, quarterly reports, tax returns, W2s and 1099s.

What is a typical day like for you? It depends on the season. From January to April 15 is a nightmare because it’s tax season. Then in October we have extensions to process.

Why did you choose this job? It actually found me.

What type of training, if any, is needed for this job? Prior training would have helped, but everything I have learned on the job. Basically Terry molded me and taught me everything that needs to be done for his business.

What do you enjoy most about your job? The people. I get attached to my clients.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work? I enjoy spending time with my family.
