Lady Blue, Lady Wolverines win handily

n The Farwell Lady Blue outscored Fort Sumner 19-0 in the third quarter en route to a 50-14 victory.

Senior guards Keegan Langford and Laura Martinez led Farwell (8-1) with 16 and 11 points, respectively, while senior forward Justyne McMath had five points for the Vixens (2-2).

n Texico bounced back from its loss to the Lady Blue in last week’s Citizens Bank Border Shootout final at Texico with a 60-27 thumping of Bovina.

The Lady Wolverines (4-2), who led 29-5 at the quarter, got at least four points from eight players, led by 12 from senior guard Shannon Van Matre and 10 from freshman Shaylee Anderson.

n Dora got 25 points from senior Kelli Merrick and improved to 7-0 with a 63-33 win over winless Clovis Christian (0-4).

The Lady Eagles (0-4), who lost earlier this week 60-12 at Dora, hung around for a half this time, trailing 33-24.

CCS, which connected for six 3-pointers out of 13 field goals, got 25 points and four 3-pointers from senior Julia Roberts.

n Senior Sasha Edwards scored eight of her game-high 16 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, to stake Friona to a 12-4 lead after one quarter and the Squaws held on to edge Vega 43-40.
