Honors: Sabrina McCarty

Sabrina McCarty of Clovis was a recent recipient of a $1,500 college scholarship awarded by Cannon Air Force Base.
More than 5,000 students applied for 600 scholarships, according to a release from Scholarships for Military Children.
Applicants were required to maintain a 3.0 grade point average, participate in voluntary school and community activities, demonstrate leadership qualities and write an essay on the question of requiring citizens to serve for two years in the military.
McCarty plans to attend Eastern New Mexico University.
