Press Release: Three charged in drug raid
On Friday October 30, 2009, Deputies with the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office and Officers with the Portales Police Department conducted a Narcotics search warrant in the 600 block of South Roosevelt Road S.
During execution of the search warrant Jeffrey Gutierrez, DOB: 04-08-88, was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Tampering with Evidence based on items found during entry into the residence.
Mr. Gutierrez was later arraigned on those charges and entered a plea of guilty. Mr. Gutierrez was later arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs, 4th Degree Felony, due to prescription medication found in his bedroom during the search warrant and was being held at the Roosevelt County Detention Center on a $5,000.00 cash surety bond.
Andrea Gutierrez, DOB: 10-12-85, was also charged and arrested for Distribution of Marijuana, 4th Degree Felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was being held on a $50,000.00 cash only bond.
A search of the residence revealed that a third person named Joshua Ortiz, DOB: 11-21-85, occupied a bedroom where Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia were found.
Mr. Ortiz was later charged and arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and held on a $6,000.00 cash surety bond at the Roosevelt County Detention Center.
Mr. Gutierrez, Ms. Gutierrez, and Mr. Ortiz later posted bond and was released from custody.
- The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office and the Portales Police Department both participate in the Region V Drug Task Force which is comprised of law enforcement agencies from Roosevelt County, Curry County, Quay County, De Baca County, and Guadalupe County.
