Fighting cancer
The Clovis High girls volleyball team is spending Saturday working at Bradley’s Twin Cronnies Drive-In in Clovis, raising money to fight breast cancer.
They’ll be taking orders from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and donating all tips to the cause.
Feast for fun
OktoberFeast is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Portales.
Admission: Children $5, Adults $8 and ENMU students with ID $7.

On this day in 1968, 21-year-old Oregonian Dick Fosbury wins gold — and sets an Olympic record — when he high-jumps 7 feet 4 1/4 inches at the Mexico City Games.
It was the international debut of Fosbury’s unique jumping style, known as the "Fosbury Flop."
