On Friday, October 14, 2011, at approximately 11:00 AM, Curry County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 4200 block of Homestead, southwest of Clovis, regarding a report of a shooting. The reporting information indicated that Daniel Sena (25 YOA) had shot his parents at this residence.
Upon arrival, deputies found Ramon Sena (64 YOA), who was critically wounded with multiple gunshot wounds, and his wife, Crusita Sena (66 YOA), who had been fatally wounded by gunshots. Ramon Sena was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center, and has since been taken to a Lubbock hospital. The Major Crimes Unit was activated to assist with the investigation.
As the investigation proceeded, it was learned that another family member was at Mesa Elementary School. Although there was no indication that Daniel Sena would go to the school, the Sheriff’s Office asked the school to “lock down” as a precaution. The Clovis Police Department and New Mexico State Police assisted with this safety measure.
At approximately 12:00 PM, Daniel Sena was located in his vehicle in the area of Curry Roads “L” and “7”. He had suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center where he died a short time after arrival.
The investigation into this matter is continuing.
