Catapult launch reminder

Science teacher Laura Debusk reports that the Portales Junior High honors science classes will be launching catapults at 2 p.m. Friday. The project has been a year-long effort.

Band to attend festival

The PJHS advanced band will attend the Southeastern New Mexico Musical Education Association District Concert and Sight Reading Festival on Wednesday at Marshall Junior High in Clovis. The festival begins at 11 a.m.

Spring testing begins

Measures of Academic Progress (MAPS) testing began this week with tests in math on Monday and Tuesday.

Students will take the science portion of the tests on Wednesday and Thursday.

Testing will continue next week, Monday through Wednesday, with language arts.

Data from the MAPS tests give educators and students a look at their learning progress through the year.
