Claud Rainy Day Extension
The Claud Rainy Day Extension club met Feb. 10 at the home of Reba Camp where they worked on the photo frame project for the Senior Citizen Resident Center.
March 10 at Grady, Alpha Club hosted a luncheon and a program about “Dresses for Children” made from pillowcases.
On March 24, members completed the photo frames which were distributed to the residents for Easter.
A business meeting was held at 1:30 p.m. on April 14 at Muffley’s Back door with Annette Taylor as hostess.
The next meeting will be with Aloha Starbuck at 10:30 a.m. on April 28.
Beta Phi
Suzy Moore a member of Beta Phi since 2006 was chosen “Chapter Sweetheart of ESA - Beta Phi” by her peers.
She has held chapter offices of treasurer, parliamentarian, vice-president as well as district parliamentarian. Ms. Moore will be the chapter president for September 2010 through August 2011.
She enjoys cross-stitch, cooking, sewing, games, puzzles and watching television.
Suzy is a fun person to be around and is very deserving of this award.
Portales Woman’s Club
Portales Woman’s Club met on April 14 with President Della Kobernick presiding.
The Collect was led by Mary Lou Rowley, the pledges by Beth Davis and June Ferguson gave the invocation.
Frankye King conducted a memorial service for former member, Marline Haughawaut. Chester Haughawaut, her husband, also participated. A book is being ordered for the Portales Public Library in her memory.
Judy Piepkorn, Chair of the hostess committee, introduced others on her committee: Mary Lou Rowley, Phyllis Jones, Lois Crozier and Iris Johnson.
Members were invited to a Meet and Greet prior to State Convention, hosted by Jane Hilliard, Della Kobernick and June Ferguson.
New officers were elected as follows: President, Della Kobernick; First Vice President, Teresa Howard; Second Vice President, Patrice Tompkins; Third Vice President, Rose Robbins; Recording Secretary, Julie Nickels; Corresponding Secretary, Anne McMath; and Treasurer, Wanda Pettus.
They will be installed at the May 12 meeting at 8:30 a.m.
RGH Auxiliary
To celebrate National Volunteer Week the staff and resident of Heartland Continuing Care Center hosted the RGH Auxiliary to a morning Brunch at 9:30 a.m. April 20 in the cafeteria dinning room of the nursing home.
The cafeteria has recently been redecorated and painted by Barbara Miller providing a fresh warm atmosphere for the public to enjoy.
Staff members introduced include Joann Tweedy, nursing home administrator; Chris Paxton, director of nursing; Melissa Partonaa, office manager; Colleen Lyon, dietary manager; and Lyda Essary, admissions; Sharon Quaif, rehab/activity coordinator; and Legleiter, social services.
President Sid Phillips interrupted the meal to surprise Mark Dillard on his achievement of calling Bingo for the resident for 25 years. On behalf of the AUX she presented him with two T-shirts with lettering of Bingo Man for 25 years. What a blessing Mark has been to members of Heartland. Congratulations Mark.
