The next New Mexico fishing license year began Thursday. Three rule changes you might want to know about are:

• The length of the Special Trout Water on the upper Pecos River has been reduced by about half a mile.

• The bag limit on striped bass has been decreased to two fish.

• Unlimited take of rainbow, brown and brook trout above the fish migration barrier in Black Canyon in the Gila National Forest is now allowed.
