Floyd junior Tori Tucker, and a couple of friends will be out Saturday to wash cars in order to raise money for a trip. She was invited to participate in the U.S. Junior National Girls Basketball tournament in Champaign, Ill. July 25-Aug. 3.
The car wash starts at 9 a.m. at Valero gas station near the Portales Public Library. Tucker said she is trying to raise enough money to go. Tucker recently learned she had earned a spot on the New Mexico/Wyoming/Colorado team.
“It is so exciting, I love basketball so much,” Tucker said. “We’re trying to raise as much as possible with the cost of the plane tickets, food. I still need a little more for my uniform and all of that stuff.”
