Alysha Pritt collected 12 kills Saturday and Midwestern State led virtually all the way in a 25-15, 25-17, 25-20 Lone Star Conference volleyball victory over Eastern New Mexico University at Greyhound Arena.

The Mustangs (22-7, 6-3 LSC) used strong front row play to maintain control, compiling 52 kills in the match against only 12 attack errors.

Sophomore outside hitter Veronica Valdez had 10 kills and two block assists for the Zias (6-23, 0-8), while freshman middle blocker Jessica King had eight kills and two block solos.

The first game was tied at 1-1 and 2-2 before the Mustangs took the lead for good on a kill by Miranda Byrd. Midwestern eventually opened a 16-5 lead and cruised to the set.

ENMU erased a 5-1 deficit to tie the second game twice, but the Mustangs went in front for good on another kill by Byrd. Then the Zias went up twice by two points, the last time at 20-18 on a kill by Valdez, but Lauren Hubbard’s kill started a match-ending 7-0 run for the Mustangs.

The Zias close out a three-match homestand with a 7 p.m. LSC clash on Tuesday against rival West Texas A&M.
