WR, Cedar Hill, Texas — Hill caught seven passes for 146 yards as the Texans drubbed Southwestern Oklahoma 43-19 on Saturday, improving to 5-0 for the first time since 1990. He caught three TD passes, including one for 69 yards on a reverse pass from running back Travis Evans. Jerale Badon, Abilene Christian, Sr. WR, Abilene, Texas — Baden caught six passes for 107 yards to pass former East Texas State receiver Gary Compton as the LSC’s all-time leading receiver with 186 catches. His career total of 2,661 yards leaves him less than 400 yards behind Compton in that category. ENMU nominee Michael Benton, Sr. QB — Benton rushed for 149 yards in Saturday’s 45-20 loss at Abilene Christian. He scored two touchdowns, giving him 10 TDs for the season. Defense Cody Stutts, Abilene Christian, Sr. MLB, Mesquite, Texas — Stutts had 10 tackles (seven solos) as the Wildcats held ENMU about 60 yards below its Division II-leading rushing average of 403 yards per game coming in. ENMU nominee Brandon Haug, So. LB — Haug notched six tackles at Abilene Christian, including three solo stops and one for as loss of three yards, and returned a pass interception 41 yards in the second quarter for a touchdown. Special teams Ben White, Midwestern State, Jr. P, Carrollton, Texas — White averaged 41.7 yards on three punts against Angelo State,m with each of them downed inside the Rams’ 10-yard-line. North Division Offense Jarrett Beal, Northeastern State, Jr. QB, Dallas — Beal carried 15 times for 94 yards and two touchdowns as the RiverHawks notched their first win of the season by beating East Central 27-15. Defense T.J. Shaw, Central Oklahoma, Jr. S, Edmond, Okla. — Shaw had two interceptions in the Bronchos’ 21-20 overtime win over Commerce, to go with two tackles and a pass breakup. Special teams Nabil El-Amin, Texas A&M-Commerce, Jr. KR, Rochester, N.Y. — El-Amin returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown in the Lions’ 21-20 overtime loss at home to Central Oklahoma. The return tied the stadium record set by Abilene Christian’s Danieal Manning in November 2003.
