• Actor Ronny Cox, former Portales resident, returned home to visit his family.
• During the Portales City Council meeting, Roosevelt County rancher P.F. Turner collapsed. Turner, who has a known history of heart problems, was not breathing and had no pulse. Former Portales EMT and PNT managing editor Scot Stinnett performed mouth to mouth resuscitation. Turner was stabilized by the Portales Fire Department personnel and transported to Roosevelt General Hospital, where he was treated and released.
• "Uncle Buck" and "The Dead Poet’s Society" were the featured movies playing at the Tower Twin Theater.
