Entries are still being accepted for the “Welcome Home Troops” parade scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The parade will begin on Avenue O, follow Second Street, then end on the square downtown. Nancy Gentry, an organizer, said there is no cost for entries and she will still be taking entries this week. For information, contact 760-7570. Applications can be picked at the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce. Gentry said there have been a couple of entries from the local schools, Portales High School and Lindsey Elementary, but she would like to see more schools in the event.
