Rosa Montano, 91 Services: 9 a.m. Friday at St. Helen Catholic Church in Portales. Rosa Montano, 91, of Portales, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at her home. She was born on Aug. 30, 1913, in Palma, to Vincentita and Jose de la Cruz Garcia. She married to Juan F. Montano in 1936. She made her home in the Encino area until 1948 when she and her family moved to Portales. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and of the Crucillo Society. Family members said she enjoyed doing ceramics and making quilts. She routinely made quilts for family members to commemorate significant events such as marriages, births and anniversaries. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jose, Samuel and Luis Garcia; several sisters, including, Concepcion and Anne Apodaca; a son, Filandro Vito Montano; and by her husband. Survivors include five sons, Isaac, Elfigo, Rudy (and wife Judy), and Seferino (Sylvia), all of Portales, and Jerry D. Montano of Benton, La.; four daughters, Lucia Cansino of Roswell, Rose Carter (Ralph) and Adelina Baca (Juan), all of Portales, and Patsy Jaquez of Hobbs; 41 grandchildren; and 70 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren. Father Tobin Hitt will officiate the services. A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Helen Catholic Church in Portales. Burial will be at Portales Cemetery. Pallbearers are Henry, Armando, Michael, David, and T.J. Montano, Cody Ryan and Levy Cordova. Honorary pallbearers are her other grandchildren. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales. Carolyn Ann Tusha, 83 Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Elida Cemetery. Carolyn Ann Tusha, 83, of Portales died, Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, in the home of family. She was born on Aug. 10, 1921, in Hurley. She graduated from New Mexico State University with honors, worked in an aircraft factory during World War II and later became a successful businesswoman in Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Tusha; and two sons, Bob and Wayne Euper. Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Rebecca Simpson Euper of Longview, Texas, and Deanne Euper of Red Springs, Texas; a former daughter-in-law, Norma Lee Gabriel (and husband, Reuben) of Upland, Calif.; three grandchildren; John Euper of Red Springs, Texas, Lori Ann Reich of New York, Jim Euper (Jami) of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; two great grandchildren, Sam and Riley Euper of Cucamonga; a sister-in-law, Doris Wall of Elida.; and several nieces and nephews, including, Edwin Tusha of Lubbock, Mary Jean Tusha of Long Beach, Calif., Lynn Tusha of Carlsbad, Ancel Gower of Pueblo, Colo., Ruth Gower Kumler of Lakewood, Colo., Lela Jo Halliday of Elida, Dalene Tinnin of Hereford, Texas, Sharon Gray of Oklahoma, and Milton and Joan Jones of Tyler, Texas.
