What do you like about Portales? “There is no better place than this small town. I believe with all my heart that this community is on its way to revival and when that day comes unity will bring ease to the families of this town.” What do you visualize your life being like in 10 years? “Being pampered by my children and my grandchildren with love because we are so enriched with the Lord.” Tell us about your parents: “There are no words to describe my parents. There was never a moment when I did not feel protected. My father worked hard to provide for all 14 of his children and he never griped. My mother was the ideal mom; she was my best friend. She never criticized us rather, she built us up in her own loving way.” Who is someone you admire in life? Why? “I admire Father Tobin at St. Helen’s Catholic Church. His love for God has left an impression on me. He is preparing us for the day when Jesus comes back.” What is your greatest hope? “My hope is that our community would work together to help our youth make better choices, get help for those that have strayed from the true life of love and that parents would involve themselves more in the lives of their children and their community.” If money were no object, what would you do to make the world a better place? “I would build a huge rehab center for teens and bring in the best counselors and ministers to work with them. I would also build a huge building to hold retreats and conferences in. I would also designate one day a week, calling it ‘Kids Day,’ and the whole square would be open to all kids with plenty of activities, food and entertainment.” If I could do anything, I would… “I would love to go to the Holy Land and walk where Jesus walked and preach.” If you could be a superhero, what would you name and powers be? “My name would be ‘The Peacemaker’ and I would be a great evangelist with the power to teach people to walk in love.” What is your favorite smell? “Rain.” What would you like printed on your gravestone? “She was a reflection of God’s love.’ What is your favorite song? Why? “My favorite English song is, ‘I Will Always Love You,’ because it reminds me of my mom but in Spanish it is ‘Pillares de Cristal,’ which is one of the songs my husband dedicated to me.” What is your idea of a perfect day? “When my family gets up and goes to church, when we have breakfast together and when we sit around and talk.” Tell us about your spouse: “I have a loving husband who is a good father and grandfather.
