Portales Police officials are informing residents to be prepared for a new four-way stop. Portales Police Capt. Lonnie Berry said Friday that there will be a four-way stop implemented at the intersection of S. Kilgore Ave. and 18th St. There are currently stop signs on Kilgore, but Berry said the additional signs will be added because of an increase in traffic accidents in the area and the possibility of housing developments north of the intersection. Berry added that police will be monitoring the stop closely in its first few weeks. Officials at City Hall did not respond to calls placed Friday regarding when the signs would be posted. Berry said he was unsure of the day, but said the signs would be posted sometime this week.
