Basketball • Tuesday: junior varsity boys, varsity boys and girls, vs. Dora at Floyd, 4 p.m. • Thursday, Friday, Saturday: Junior High Girls and Boys, Little Fox/Vixen Tournament at Ft. Sumner • Friday: junior varsity and varsity girls and boys vs. Fort Sumner at Floyd. 4 p.m. Spelling bee results Winners for the Elementary Spelling Bee are: First place: Crysten Smith. Alternate: Alysha Jones Third place: Clay Brady Winners for the Middle School Spelling Bee are: First place: Chay Chenault Alternate: Chet Chenault Third place: Jed Peacock Yearbooks Yearbooks for the 2004-05 year are now on sale. Prices are $30 (includes name stamp) until Spring Break, then they are $35. Please see Dawn Bilbrey or a member of the yearbook staff. Booster club news The Booster club is selling tickets for a quilt giveaway. The quilt features embroidered blocks of the academic and athletic activities sponsored by the Booster club. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Tickets can be bought at the home basketball games. The quilt will be given away at the athletic banquet in May. Essay contest The Floyd Lions Club is sponsoring an Essay Contest for students in grades 1-12. An instrument will be given away on each of the three nights of the 55th Annual Floyd Jamboree, held the last weekend in March. All grade levels will have a chance. Thursday night will be for elementary students, Friday will be for middle school students, and Saturday will be for high school students. Prizes to be given away will be a stringed musical instrument and lessons. Students who wish to participate must fill out an application and write an essay which should include why they should be picked for the giveaway, their musical interests, desires and ambitions. These must be completed and turned in by March 1. Applications are available at the front desk.
