Pettigrew earns all-around cowboy honors

ALPINE, Texas — Eastern New Mexico University senior Chance Pettigrew won the steer wrestling competition and the all-around cowboy title Oct. 2 at Sul Ross State.
Pettigrew won the first round in 3.6 seconds and the short round in 4.3 seconds. Since no other cowboy won points in more than one event, Pettigrew won the all-around title as well.
For the women, ENMU’s Brittany Bennett galloped to second in the barrel race with two-race total of 31.21 seconds.
In men’s team standings, the Greyhounds and New Mexico Junior College tied for 10th with 35 points. On the women’s side, the Zias and College of the Southwest tied for third with 75.
Texas Tech was the women’s winner with 200 points, and Western Texas College won the men’s team title with 210 points.
