Difference: Texico completing shut down the Bears. The Wolverines intercepted eight passes, including three each by Brett Anderson and Jose Posada.
Difference-makers: Mario Posada rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns for the Wolverines, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A. Edgardo Meza added 103 yards on the ground, scoring once.
Of note: Texico wrapped up the district championship with the victory. … Anderson went 4-for-10 passing in the game, including completions of 56 yards to Marques Pena and 55 to Mario Posada.
Go figure: Four of Texico’s six TDs came on 1-yard runs.

Fort Sumner 47, Mescalero 0
Records: Fort Sumner 9-1 (3-0 District 2-1A), Mescalero 0-9 (0-4).
Difference: The top-ranked Foxes had far too much for the game but outmanned Chiefs. Fort Sumner led 41-0 at halftime.
Difference-makers: Junior RB Michael Mares rushed for 111 yards and two TDs. Junior RB Braeden Dimitroff also scored twice, picking up 61 yards on only five carries.
Of note: Fort Sumner is expected to get a first-round bye in the six-team Class 1A playoffs. The Foxes are bidding for a fourth consecutive 1A title.
Go figure: The Chiefs were able to complete their season despite having only 12 players available for the game.

Muleshoe 55, Dimmitt 0
Records: Muleshoe 8-0 (3-0 District 2-2A), Dimmitt 2-6 (0-3).
Difference: The Mules, averaging around 55 points for the season, scored three times in the first quarter and were never in danger.
Difference-makers: Senior QB Wes Wood threw for seven touchdowns in three quarters. Wood completed 19-of-25 passes for 378 yards. WR Victor Vasquez caught eight passes for 145 yards and four TDs, while WR Nathaniel Chavez grabbed five passes for 177 yards and a score.
Go figure: Eight Muleshoe players had at least one reception.
Of note: The Mules held the Bobcats to just 141 total yards and forced four turnovers. … Muleshoe hosts rival Friona next week with the district championship at stake.
