The Tucumcari Rattlers fell 20-6 to the Estancia Bears on Friday night at the Snake Pit.
Turnovers late in the second half contributed to the Rattlers (3-4) loss.
After intercepting a Alex Hutchins pass with five minutes left in the fourth quarter, Estancia put together a drive that put the game away.
Bears quarterback John Jaquez scored on a quarterback keeper from the 1-yard line to seal the District 2-2A win.
Rattlers cornerback Dalton Wood intercepted a pass thrown by Jaquez with three minutes left in the third quarter with Tucumcari trailing 13-7.
The Rattlers fumbled the ball away on the following offensive series. In need of a big play, Rattlers lineman Jordan Maestas sacked Jaquez on a fourth-and-24 play closing out the third quarter.
Each team’s next offensive series ended with a turnover by downs, both defenses were able to stop the respective offense in fourth-and-long situations.
