The Clovis White freshmen lost to Roswell High 32-22 on Thursday. Boone Wheeler scored the Wildcats’ first TD and Trey Orozco added the other two, with Alan Candalaria and Wheeler added PATs. The Cats have a 4 p.m. kickoff on Thursday in Carlsbad.

The Clovis Purple freshmen improved to 3-1 on Thursday, putting out a strong defensive effort in a 20-6 win over Hobbs.
Alvaro Fernandez threw touchdown passes to Taylor Lee and Martin Lopez, while Steve Cope ran for a TD and Fernandez added a 2-point conversion. Damion Alburto led the defense with several big plays, including a ocuple of quarterback sacks.

The Marshall White 7th graders blanked Yucca White 36-0 on Sept. 30 behind three TD runs from Traivon Sopila, improving to 2-1 for the season.
Jordan I. Jones had an interception return for a score, Gerald Fritz returned a blocked punt to paydirt and Peyton Lott returned a fumble for a TD. Coaches said the defense played a strong game.

Yucca White defeated Farwell 26-20 on Sept. 30, with Michael Sorge rushing for 115 yards and Kordell Tindle throwing a 70-yard scoring pass to Raul Jimenez.
Tindle added a 2PAT pass to Braden Ashcraft. Coaches credited Dustyn Crane, Dorian Montoya, Dominic Reynna and Warner for their play on defense.
In losses to Portales and Marshall White, coaches singled out Tindle, Jimenez and Sorge on offense and Nathan Solis, Brock Hampton and Tindle on defense. The team closes its season on Thursday against Marshall Red.

Volleyball

The Clovis Purple freshmen beat Roswell High on Thursday 21-25, 28-26, 15-5 as Paige Gardner collected eight kills, April Sartin had four and Stevie Cabrera added three. Coach Michelle Morris singled out Tana Tenoria for sets and dinks at the net and Monique Lopez and Brittney Fowler for their all-aroudn play.

The Clovis Purple freshmen beat Hobbs Black 25-18, 21-25, 15-4 on Sept. 30 as Peyton Rains had a strong service game and collected four kills. Samantha Harris and Gardner also played well at t he net, while Tenorio had a strong match at the service line.

The Clovis White freshmen beat Hobbs 25-16, 25-14 on Monday.
“The girls played very well as a team and had a great serving day that led to (our) overall success,” coach Amy Wyatt said.

The Marshall 8th grade “A” team beat Portales 25-22, 25-23 on Thursday. Coach Jennifer Buzard said Anissa Carroll, Andrea Ramos, Elena Hayes and Halle Slocum served well, Daniella Cortez, Malaya Flores, Hayes and Slocum played well in the front row and Kirby Longo had a good day in the back row.

The Marshall “B” team lost to Portales 25-18, 5-25, 17-15 despite good front row play by Ciera Birch and good serving by Janelle Montoya, Alicia Marez and Annabel Jauregui.

Roswell Berrendo defeated the Marshall 8th grade “B” team 27-25, 24-26, 15-10 on Sept. 30
