CARLSBAD — The Carlsbad Cavegirls got goals from Missy Marshall and Sarah McCoy and edged Clovis High 2-0 in District 4-5A girls soccer on Saturday. Marshall scored in the second minute after halftime to break a scoreless tie, while McCrory gave the Cavegirls (13-6, 2-1 district) an insurance tally about midway through the period. “We played a real solid first half,” said Lady Wildcats coach Shane Leatherwood, whose team fell to 6-12 (0-3). “Neither team had any good (scoring) oppoprtunities. We made a couple of good runs, but we couldn’t get anything going.” Carlsbad won the junior varsity match 2-1, with Christa Miller scoring the Clovis goal.
