Thomas Tie Grissom Services 2 p.m. Saturday at First Church of God in Christ Thomas Tie Grissom, 63, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, following a battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 29, 1943, in Emanuel, Okla., the fourth of six children to Merdian (Marie) White and Titanic (Tye) Grissom. He attended Watonga, Okla., public schools, where he played high school baseball, basketball and football, family members said. He married Betty Jean Lyons Aug. 15, 1961. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1962 and spent 20 years in the service. Following retirement, he attended Eastern New Mexico University and was employed by Checker Auto Parts in Clovis, K.C. Mufflers in Muleshoe and New Vision Group Home in Clovis. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Watonga, Okla., and First Church of God in Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents; Eddie and Louise Grissom; maternal grandparents, Jessie James and Estella Heard White; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Latonia Blue of Houston, LaSonia Grissom of Clovis and Renay Buggs (and husband, Greg) of Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren, Brionna and Brandon Blue of Houston; three brothers, James Grissom (Gwendolyn) of Palmdale, Calif., Ozell Grissom (Marijo) of Tulsa, Okla., and Willie Grissom (Janelle) of Watonga; two sisters, Anna Venters (Nathaniel) of San Diego and Darlene Ross (Joel) of Watonga; a sister-in-law, Doretha Curry of San Diego; 21 nieces and nephews, adopted grandchildren, and a host of other Goddaughters, relatives and friends. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Muffley Funeral Home. Bishop W. Charles Green will officiate. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Rosana Montoya Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Helen Catholic Church. Rosanna “Rose” Montoya, 84, of Portales, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born March 4, 1921, in Springer to Rutilio and Virginia Medina. She was a homemaker and member of St. Helen Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Webb, and a daughter, Jeannie Peterson. She is survived by her four sons, Manuel Medina and Phillip Montoya (and wife, Dorthy), all of Clovis, and David Montoya and Sonny Montoya (Rose), all of Portales; a daughter, Sharon Garcia (Joe) of Clovis; two brothers, Benny and Lee Cruz; two sisters, Alice Cruz and Rena Padilla, both of Springer; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Helen Catholic Church with Father James M. McGowan officiating. Burial will follow at Portales Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Anthony, Vincent, Joey and Jeremy Garcia, Jaunito Garza and Gabrial Lopez. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home.
