Portales man OK following auto accident

A Ray’s Lube Center employee who was struck by a vehicle Monday has been released from the Lubbock hospital, Portales Police Capt. Lonnie Berry said.

Tommy Preston of Portales suffered a fractured arm, Berry said.

Preston was directing a vehicle driven by another Portales man into the oil change area of the business when the driver pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, Berry said. The vehicle knocked Preston into the garage door at the end of the bay.

Berry said until police can consult with the district attorney, no citations will be issued in the case.
