Awards given at fair

Johnny Ogden, awards master of ceremonies, led the awards presentations at the Roosevelt County Fair to a packed crowd Aug. 22. Business and individual supporters were present to hand out their buckles and trophies to the top winning individuals.

In the Home Arts Building, LaDoris Allison received first place, Konni Wallace, second place and Julie Rooney third for the fancy cake contest. They were presented with cash prizes.

LaDoris Allison’s Presidents Candy Box was presented to Tim Allison, president of the Roosevelt County Fairboard.

The Senior Cookie Jar winner, Charlene Foster, presented her jar to Charlene Hardin, Roosevelt County Manager and the Junior Winner; Brenna Bates presented her cookie jar to David Sanders, representing the Roosevelt County Commissioners. 

The Home Arts Sweepstakes winner was Lillie Belle Toombs.  The second-place winner was LaDoris Allison.

Kynzi Creighton won an award for exhibiting the most 4-H entries and received an engraved 4-H coin from Roosevelt County 4-H Council. The second place winner was Arianna Cox.

Fifty-four buckles were passed out to Junior Livestock exhibitors.


Youth Horse Show

Grand Champion Gelding to Ethan Dillard, Grand Champion Mare to Tayler Dillard, Reserve Grand Champion Mare to Bryan Dillard, Novice High Point to Brock Thompson, Junior High Point to Jessie Evans, Senior High Point to Jamie Smylee, Yearling Prospect Grand Champion to Chance Robbins, Yearling Prospect Reserve Grand Champion to Shanna Anthony.

 

Replacement dairy heifers

Twenty-five Replacement Dairy Heifers were exhibited and the Grand Champion. Reserve Grand Champion to Molly Legler, Dean & Gina DeGroot, Herdsmanship Buckle to Gowan Hays, First Year Feeder to Casey Robinson and Showmanship to Casey Robinson.

Swine

A total of 133 Market Swine were exhibited on Tuesday night.  The buckle winners were:  Grand Champion to Shaelei Payne, Reserve Grand Champion to Layni Breshears, First Year Feeder to Shaelei Payne, Showmanship to Sarah Wade. 

Thirty-nine swine were entered in the Production Swine Contest and the winner was Colby Rogers.  Eleven County Bred Swine were exhibited.  The buckle winners were: Grand Champion to Shaelei Payne, Reserve Grand Champion to Trenton Bates and Champion Breeder to Payne Show Pigs.


Steers

Twenty-two market steers were shown and the sponsors and winners were:  Grand Champion to Kody Paiz, Reserve Grand Champion to Ryan Best, Showmanship to Kody Paiz, First Year Feeder to Falyn Dixson. 

A total of 11 Roosevelt County Bred Steers were exhibited with the winners being: Grand Champion to Falyn Dixson, Reserve Grand Champion to Shanna Anthony, Breeder Trophy to 7-B Show Stock.  The Production Steer Show Grand Champion went to Justin Rogers.


Breeding beef

The Breeding Beef show had 16 entries. Grand Champion Female to Savannah Kircher, Reserve Grand Champion Female to Casey Robinson, Grand Champion Bull to Casey Robinson and Showmanship to Savannah Kircher.


Goats

Fifty-nine market goats were shown and the winners were: Grand Champion to Stefanie Neuhaus, Reserve Grand Champion to Jordyn Inge, First Year Feeder to Casey Faver, Showmanship to Reda Allison. 

Twenty-one County Bred goats competed for buckles.  The winners were:Grand Champion to Stefanie Neuhaus, Reserve Grand Champion to Kenzee Criswell and Breeder Grand Champion to Ted Bailey.


Market lambs

One hundred thirty-four market lambs were shown and the winners were:  Grand Champion to Stefanie Neuhaus, Reserve Grand Champion to Tayler Fraze, First Year Feed to Braden Fraze and Showmanship to Stefanie Neuhaus.

 There were 26 entries in the Roosevelt County Bred Sheep Show with the winners being: Grand Champion to Braden Fraze, Reserve Grand Champion to Ryan Best; Grand Champion Breeder to Patrick Kircher.


Rabbit show

The show had 151 single entries and 19 meat pens.  The winners were: Champion Meat Pen to Kelsi Lamb, Reserve Grand Champion Meat Pen to Shaelei Payne, Best in Show to Kaitlyn Underbrink, Reserve Best in Show to Kelsi Lamb, Booster Showmanship to Colter Lamb, Novice Showmanship to Andrew Underbrink, Junior Showmanship to Josh Zangarra, Senior Showmanship to Sarah Nicholes.


Junior Poultry Show

There were 172 singles, 11 trios and 13 meat pens in the Junior Poultry barn. 

The winners were: Champion Meat Pen, Sarah Nicholes, Reserve Champion Meat Pen, Michael Nicholes; Champion Large Breed Trio; Sarah Nicholes, Reserve Champion Large Breed Trio, Michael Nicholes.

Clayton Bartlett received the following: Champion of the Barn, Champion Bantam Female, Champion Water Fowl, Reserve Champion Bantam Trio, Reserve Champion Bantam Male.

Andrew Winnett received Reserve Champion Bantam Female, Champion Bantam Male and Champion Bantam Trio.  Arianna Cox received Champion Large Breed Female and Champion Large Breed Male. Reserve Champion Water Fowl went to Hannah Bilbrey. Luke Cathy exhibited the Champion Turkey, Mia Gayton had the Reserve Champion Large Breed Female and Will Rooney had the Reserve Champion Large Breed Male.
