Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Senate Appropriations Committee approved a bill that includes authorizing about $26.4 million for construction projects at Cannon Air Force Base, according to a press release from Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M.
The bill, which approves about $119 billion to fund military construction projects, will be introduced to the full senate for consideration, according to the release.
About $18 million will fund a project to construct a maintenance hangar for C-130 aircraft and about $8 million will help fund a training facility for CV-22 aircraft crews, according to the release.
The bill would also approve $35.5 billion in funding for the Veterans Affairs Department.
Earlier this month, President George Bush signed into law a supplemental spending package that authorizes about $2.2 billion to purchase five MC-130J and five CV-22 aircraft for Cannon. The package also authorizes $8 million for a childcare facility at Cannon.
