Former county commissioner announces bid for mayor

Former Roosevelt County Commissioner Dennis Lopez announced Thursday he plans to run for mayor of Portales.
Lopez said he wants to get a jump on his competition by announcing his intentions early for the 2010 election.
Current Mayor Orlando Ortega said he has decided not to pursue another term.
Lopez served two terms as a commissioner and is director of supported employment at Mental Health Resources, Inc.
