Hospital board election today

Comments 0

Elections for Roosevelt General Hospital board members will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, according to officials with the Roosevelt County Clerk’s Office.

“It is for those persons in hospital District 3 and 4,” said Janet Collins, Roosevelt County Clerk.

Running in District 3, which encompasses the southern area of Portales and the Dora/Causey/Rogers area, are current RGH board member Boyd Evans and opponent Peggy Davis. In District 4, which encompasses the Elida area, south of US 70, is current board member Fred Anthony who is running unopposed, Collins said.

On Friday, early voting ended with a tally of 140 votes, said Deputy Clerk Donna Carpenter.

Voting for the election will take place at the Memorial Building for District 3, which includes precincts 3, 4, 10, 11 or 21. Voters for District 4 will be able to vote at Calvary Baptist Church, which includes precincts 5, 13, 14, 15 and 19, Collins said.

To verify if you are eligible to vote in the election, check your voter’s card, advises Collins. The hospital district will be the same as the commissioners district, she said.

If the public has any questions pertaining to the election or need help clarifying what district they are in or if they are eligible to vote, they can call the clerk’s office at 356-8562, Carpenter said.

“We’ll be glad to tell them (voters) where to go,” Carpenter said.
