Eastern New Mexico University’s Golden Library is resuming its oral history project, interviewing Roosevelt County residents of at least 50 years, according to an ENMU press release. The interviews will become a part of the library’s oral history collection.
New faculty member Julie Abril will conduct the interviews over the summer. She intends to kick off the project Saturday with a booth at Heritage Days. Residents are invited to drop by and share their stories at the booth.

Beautification money awarded
New Mexico Clean and Beautiful, a program of the New Mexico Tourism Department has awarded $608,400 to 50 municipal, county and tribal governments including several Roosevelt County entities.
The money awards help local communities reduce litter by sponsoring events, programs and projects. The funds are available from July 1 to June 30, 2009.
Roosevelt County entities receiving awards are:
• Village of Causey — $1,100
• Town of Elida — $2,200
• Village of Floyd — $600
• City of Portales — $9,600
Blood drive announced
United Blood Services will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Saturday at City Park in Portales during Heritage Days, according to a press release. The drive is sponsored by Valley Furniture.
Donors must be at least 17, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. A picture ID is required to donate.
