Job: Director of Home Health, a department of Roosevelt General Hospital

Background: Partin graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in criminal justice and psychology. He worked at the Home Health department of Plains Regional Medical Center for seven years before coming to Portales to start the department he now runs.

Time on the job: Five years

What does your job entail? It includes marketing Home Health, getting new patients registered, and coordinating with physicians. I also make sure the right policies and procedures are in place and we are following the rules and guidelines.

What is a typical day on the job like for you? When I come into work, I make sure our patients get registered. I follow up on phone calls we have with physicians and make sure the patients get all the services they need.

Why did you choose this job? I grew up in Portales, and when the opportunity opened, I was excited to work to bring a positive change to the community.

What type of training, if any, do you need for your job? You need to know medicine and Medicaid regulations. You also need some sort of management experience and a four-year college degree.

What do you most enjoy about your job? The best thing is knowing that we made a difference in the patients’ life and helped out in their time of crisis.
