Lighthouse Mission hosting school vacation celebration

The Lighthouse Mission is making sure children get at least a little bit of vacation this summer. The mission is hosting Fun in the Park beginning at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Park Saturday.

Richard and Geri Gomez of the mission said as children, their families didn’t have the money for summer vacations. They know some families are in the same situation and want to provide some summer fun for them and their children.

“There are a lot of families that get to go on vacation in the summer and there are a lot who don’t. This is a little end of the year party for them to have fun,” Richard Gomez said.

The event includes games, prizes, food and drinks, and live music. Everything is free to the public. Gomez said there will be a few speakers giving their testimonies at the event also.

The mission will be giving away a few bikes to the children. Each child will be given a ticket and Gomez said there will be a drawing for them.
