‘Most Wanted’ episode delayed

Producers have decided to delay an America’s Most Wanted episode featuring this week’s escape from the Curry County Adult Detention Center.

District Attorney Matt Chandler said the Fox network show plans to air the episode Sept. 6 instead of today as previously announced.

Crews were in Clovis this week filming footage for the weekly show, which features fugitives and suspects sought by authorities.

Earlier in the week, Chandler said his office contacted show producers and asked them to feature Sunday’s escape of eight inmates from the jail, highlighting the fugitives that remain at large.

As of Friday afternoon, four escapees remained at large.

Producers made the decision to push the episode by a week on Friday because they wanted the show to be a bigger production than what they initially planned, Chandler said.

The episode will not run if the escapees are all caught prior to Sept. 6, Chandler said.

“Our goal is to have the show canceled because we’ve caught them,” Chandler said.

Information about the escape and a profile of escapee Edward Salas, who was convicted of killing Clovis fifth-grader Carlos Perez, was posted on AMW’s Web site Tuesday as news of the escape spread nationwide.

Show producers could not be reached for comment.
