New service officer appointed at Clovis Veterans' Services

George Vargas has been named the new service officer at the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services field office in Clovis.

Vargas, 39, was a mental health technician in San Diego and Los Angeles and most recently a Social Services manager in his hometown of El Paso before coming to the NMDVS.

Vargas retired from the U.S. Navy in 1991 after serving four years as an operations specialist aboard the fast-frigate USS Cook. He also served four years in the Naval reserves.

The Clovis field office is located at 904 W. Sixth St.
