Annette Perry opened Perry’s Ceramics and Gifts in August 2007, wanting to do more then just sell ceramics. She wanted to share her passion
How it all began: Perry said she was always interested in arts and crafts. She started with macramé beads and eventually wandered intoceramics.
“Every time I went into a ceramics store, I would learn a new technique, and before I knew it, I was hooked.”
Starting from scratch: “I opened my own shop so I could make and paint whatever I wanted.”
She said she enjoys running a business where she has a chance to work with people, show and share her passion.
Bringing the art to life: She said she is always excited to watch a project come to life and the reaction of the person working on the project through the many phases.
Playing favorite: She enjoys creating figurines such as angels and Southwest sculptures.
“The great thing about this shop is that there is something for everyone at every skill level.”
She said that she has two groups of seniors that visit the shop on Wednesday and Friday. She offers tips for the seniors, who will work and complete a project that they choose over the two days.
Younger audience: The shop is open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays for kids’ day.
“The kids get a real kick out of being in total control of their project. They can pick any item and color it whatever color they like.”
And more: She said that what visitors see housed on the shelves is but a portion of the items she can create. Castles, dragons, gnomes, angels and classic pottery are just a few of the items one can find here.
“My goal is to fire every mold that I have at least once and create a catalog for customers to view. Everyone wants something different.”
