Police release name of motorcycle crash victim

Police have identified 39-year-old Robert Bianco as the motorcycle rider killed Tuesday in a crash south of Clovis.

Bianco, of Clovis, died when his 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan struck the side of a 2001 Chevrolet pickup driven by Mark Ulibarri of Clovis.

New Mexico State Police were called to the scene about 1 p.m. at Curry Roads 4 and K.

Capt. Jimmy Glascock said Bianco was declared dead at the scene.

According to a press release from state police, Ulibarri told police he was northbound on Curry Road K and stopped at the intersection with Curry Road 4.

The release said Ulibarri told police he did not see the motorcycle driven by Bianco.

When he proceeded through the intersection, Ulibarri, 40, said the motorcycle — westbound on Curry Road 4 — crashed into the right side of his pickup.

Glascock said Ulibarri was cited for failure to yield because there are stop signs at the north and southbound corners of the intersection, granting right-of-way to east and west bound traffic.

Efforts to reach Ulibarri were unsuccessful.
