Clovis seeks new police chief

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The city of Clovis announced Friday its next police chief will be chosen through an open application process, according to a press release.

Police Chief Dan Blair announced last month his retirement from the position. His last day will be June 30.

The city will begin taking applications Monday and the position will remain open until a selection is made, the release said.

Local and national applications will be considered. Pay will be determined based on experience, the release said.

Blair was hired as police chief in September 2006. He has served almost 23 years with the department.

He said previously it was a decision he made with his family and there was nothing negative behind his choice.

All applications for the position are to be submitted through the city’s Web site at www.cityofclovis.org, the release said.
