The following is a sampling of calls placed to the Portales police dispatchers over the past week:



May 2


• At 5:52 p.m., a caller stated there was a horse on NM 480.


• At 8:23 a.m., a caller reported five large dogs running loose in the area of South Roosevelt Road R 1/2. A deputy was unable to locate dogs or the complainant.


• At 10:20 a.m., a caller on North Mike Street reported someone had taken a 2008 blue Dodge Ram truck. The keys were left in the vehicle as was a .45 caliber pistol on the front seat.


• At 10:53 a.m., a caller advised that he had just caught a subject attempting to break into his residence on Gemini Drive.


• At 10:53 a.m., a caller reported a horse on the roadway on NM 267. A deputy was unable to locate the horse.


• At 11:55 a.m., a subject on South Roosevelt Road 6 reported identity theft.


• At 7:05 p.m., a caller reported a large dog running lose in the neighborhood of South Main Street.


• At 7:48 p.m., a caller reported a female in front of the house on West Lime Street harassing her.


• At 10:19 p.m., a caller on South Avenue A reported hearing two shots fired and seeing a male run down an alley and up some stairs into an apartment.



May 3


• At 11:53 .m., a caller on South Roosevelt Road 4 reported someone had taken a fence and some turkeys and replaced them with a bedspring.


• At 12:08 p.m., dispatchers received a 911 call with an open line in which they could hear yelling in the background and subjects arguing abouy tools on East Canadian Street.


• At 1:17 p.m., a caller reported a gas skip on West 18th Street.


• At 2:37 p.m., a subject on North Avenue N called and reported there was an open line and subjects were verbally arguing with each other and when they discussed buying drugs, they disconnected.


• At 7:12 p.m., a caller advised three subjects were in the road on U.S. 70 shooting bows and arrows.


• At 11:50 p.m., a caller advised that someone had just broken into his vehicle and stole some coins on East Second Street.



May 4


• At 10:57 a.m., police received a report of a security alarm activation and were advised there was a fight in a parking lot on West Second Street, but all subjects had left the scene.


• At 6:37 p.m., a caller on South Elgin Street requested a police officer to report that her 13-year-old daughter had been caught drinking and was out of control.


• At 6:56 p.m., a caller on North Avenue E reported a male on a bicycle wearing a black shirt with a number 25 on it and was riding southbound, looking into people’s cars and trying to open doors.



May 5


• At 9:09 a.m., a caller reported a stolen fence and cinder blocks on South Avenue I Place.


• At 12:26 p.m., a caller on South Avenue D reported possible fraud.


• At 6:06 p.m., a caller reported a pit bull running at large and scaring children on South Avenue C.


• At 10:05 p.m., a caller on South Avenue K reported a male dressed in a black jacket with no shirt walking toward Golden Library carrying a knife.



May 6


• At 7:05 a.m., a caller on South Globe Street reported her windshield busted out.


• At 2:24 p.m., a caller reported a small child bitten by a dog on U.S. 70.


• At 8:32 p.m., a caller on South Avenue G stated she had just heard five gunshots from the area of R.M. James Elementary School.


• At 10:47 p.m., a caller stated that two vehicles were racing, one a blue Ford truck, the other a white Chevy, between the Town and Country store and Wal-Mart.



May 7


• At 3:38 p.m., a caller reported horses on NM 267, at mile marker 20.


• At 10:10 p.m., a caller advised she had caught someone on U.S. 70 trying to steal gas out of a tractor.



May 8


• At 4:19 p.m., a subject on Texas Drive reported possible fraud.


• At 5:12 p.m., a caller reported high school kids vandalizing signs in a parking area on South Chicago.



May 9


• At 6:05 a.m., a caller on West 14th Lane stated her vehicle was missing.
