Portales receives Hubbard grant

The city of Portales received a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the R.D. and Joan Dale Hubbard Foundation for the summer physical education and recreation program. This is the second year  Portales has been funded by the foundation for this particular program.


The R.D. and Joan Dale Hubbard Foundation awarded grants to 45 different not-for-profit groups, schools and communities in southeastern New Mexico totaling $266,000 for 2008-2009. Three organizations in Roosevelt County received a total of $25,500 in grants including the city of Portales, Angel Ministries and the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home.


The Hubbard Foundation’s Southeast New Mexico Grant Program was developed in 2001. The R.D. and Joan Dale Hubbard Foundation, a nonprofit, tax exempt organization, was founded by R.D. and Joan Dale Hubbard in 1986. Hubbard is majority owner and chairman of Ruidoso Downs Racetrack and Billy the Kid Casino in Ruidoso Downs.
