    Probate judge

    Republican

    Elected offices held: none

    What is your background?

I was born and raised in Roosevelt County, Elida area. I am retired from the USDA, Farm Service Agency. Mother of three children, Leslie Addison, Steve Standifer and Cade Standifer. I have experience in employee management and assisting agricultural producers with government policies. I was a USDA trainer for FSA employees in communication skills for New Mexico and Arizona.

Why are you running for probate judge?

It would be rewarding to assist residents of Roose-velt County in their probate needs. I have always enjoyed meeting new people and visiting old friends. I would like to be a part of something that would benefit all. Since retirement, I have spare time on my hands and miss the interaction with people.

What is the most important function of the office in your opinion?

To provide the best service, be honest, fair and caring about the citizens you serve. Treat everyone with the courtesy and respect. Be available when requested.

What traits and experience are necessary for the position and how do your own traits and experience relate?

Being able to interpret the written procedure of probate laws. Be able to communicate with people which includes listening as well as assisting. Be fair, honest and treat everyone the same. Be available when needed and work hard.
I feel my experience with the USDA and other areas has prepared me for this position. I have always been dedicated to any position I have ever had and take the needs of people very seriously. It is in my nature to be a helper and very rewarding to me.

What changes to the operation of the office would you propose?

I would have to evaluate the operation of the office before I could respond to this question.

    Palin's pregnant daughter
How do you feel about the news that John McCain's vice-presidential running mate Sarah Palin's teenage daughter is pregnant?
It's life and it's not a big issue in the race.
It puts Palin in a weak position of family issues but it should blow over.
It disqualifies her as a vice-presidential candidate.
